Our History

The Chester Tavern originally opened its doors in 1855 and is one of the very few surviving public houses in Kidderminster.

The property was purchased in September 2021 and when the news of a big refurbishment began to spread, the support of the local community was immense.

We found very quickly that everyone had their own story attached to The Chester Tavern and our aim now is to help create even more memories at the pub in the heart of the Kidderminster community.

Work began in November 2021, and we were proud to open doors on 5th August 2022.

Day-to-day, The Chester Tavern is run by Andy Hipkiss, who many people will know from The Boars Head in Kidderminster.

During the renovation, almost every single square inch of the building has been touched.

Walking through the front door, you are greeted with a triaditonal pub setting, including a stage that will house live music. Whereas, upstairs, we've created a bar vibe, including a brand new shuffleboard table, a separate bar area and space for a live DJ.

We've even taken the outside area and created a beer garden and private outdoor bar.

Using many local suppliers, we host beers from Wyre Valley Brewery, Bewdley Brewery, as well as a range of non-alcoholic beers.
